19. April 2024
On 16 April and 17 April 24, the CBI invited all members to the 11th members’ meeting at the conference centre in the Smart Logistics Cluster on the RWTH Aachen Campus. This two-day event offered all participants the opportunity to present and discuss the progress of ongoing consortium projects and to initiate new project ideas. The intensive personal and interdisciplinary exchange fostered exciting and constructive discussions.

We would like to thank our scientific partners, the Institute of Steel Construction, the Institute of Highway Engineering, the Institute of Structural Concrete, the Institute of Building Materials Research and the Institute of Sustainability in Civil Engineering (all RWTH Aachen University), who supported this event and contributed to the success of the members’ meeting by contributing their respective expertise in the various fields.

The meeting began with a warm welcome by our Managing Director Benjamin Camps, who informed the participants about current topics and the latest developments of the CBI, the Construction Cluster and the RWTH Aachen Campus.

After the lunch break, which also focussed on the exchange between the members, the participants met in their respective consortia to present and discuss the results of the ongoing projects and to plan the next steps. Two parallel sessions focussed on the following topics:

– Standardisation prefabricated buildings

– Planning guide to modular bridge construction

– Serial refurbishment

– Sustainability prefabricated building units

– Sustainability Infrastructure

Later in the afternoon, the circle of participants expanded to include Aachen Building Experts e.V. and its members. Prof Hegger, initiator of the Building Cluster and the CBI, and Dr Hans-Jürgen Krause, Chairman of the ABE, welcomed the participants. The members of the CBI and ABE were then given exciting insights into the work of both organisations. The first day of the members’ meeting culminated in a joint evening event with the opportunity for networking between the member companies and further bilateral discussions.

The second day began with company presentations by H+P Ingenieure, Hentschke Bau, C+P Modulbau and OSW. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the company representatives Frederik Teworte (H+P Ingenieure), Frank Jesse (Hentschke Bau), Stefan Henrich (C+P Modulbau) and Oliver Rühr (OSW) for their contributions with exciting insights into their fields of activity and day-to-day business.

After a short break, new project ideas from the fields of building and bridge construction were presented and discussed with the members, emphasising the diversity and innovative strength of our network.

Special thanks go to all speakers and participants as well as to our members (Algeco, ALHO, AMAND, AMTRA, BASF, BFT Cognos, BOLLE, C+P Modulbau, Cadolto, CMS, Containerwerk, Echterhoff, ELA Container, Eurovia, Filigran, Frauenrath, Hegger + Partner, Heitkamp, Hentschke Bau, Hochtief, KB Container, Kleusberg, Leviat, Max Bögl, Moravia Containers, nesseler, OSW, PROCONTAIN, Säbu, Solidian, Swarco and Zeppelin Rental), who contributed significantly to the success of the 11th members’ meeting. members’ meeting.
