Consortium Meeting: Sustainability in prefabricated building units

We are very pleased that we were again able to hold a face-to-face workshop on the topic of sustainability in prefabricated building units yesterday. And for all those who were not able to attend live in Aachen, we were able to provide a hybrid event.

Directly after the short welcoming speeches by Dr. Carl Richter (Managing Director of CBI) and Prof. Markus Kuhnhenne (RWTH Aachen, Institute for Steel Construction), Mr. Johannes Kreißig (Managing Director DGNB e.V./ Managing Director DGNB GmbH) gave a keynote speech. The main topics of his interesting lecture were sustainable finance, BEG funding and climate-neutral buildings. At this point we would like to thank him for his interesting input.

Another focus of the morning was the joint workshop within the consortium. The consortium (consisting of Algeco, ALHO, BFT Cognos, Cadolto, Containerwerk eins, ELA Container, Kleusberg, SÄBU Morsbach and Zeppelin Rental) mainly discussed the definition of sustainability, activities for energy-efficient buildings, potentials for prefabricated building units, obstacles, expectations and goals for the cooperation as well as possible fields of action.

After a lunch break, the next steps of the project were discussed. Now the sustainability evaluation of the prefabricated building units will be divided and compiled analogous to the practice guideline on the different types. Furthermore, a data basis will be created and a benchmark will be worked out together.

We are pleased to be able to continue working together in this long-term project. We thank you for the excellent cooperation and are already looking forward to our next consortium meeting!
