Workshop: Modular Bridge Construction

Yesterday, a workshop on modular bridge construction was held in a hybrid format for all interested members at CBI. Representatives from Heitkamp, Leviat, Eiffage Infra-Bau, HOCHTIEF and Nesseler participated. Discussions were held on a possible simplification and standardized approach to modular bridge construction. In this context, the client side is essential. For this reason, representatives of  Autobahn GmbH and Deutsche Bahn were also present. This group is to be expanded if necessary. The scientific side was complemented by the participation of Institute of Structural Concrete RWTH Aachen University, the Institute of Steel Construction RWTH Aachen University and the Institute of Highway Engineering RWTH Aachen University.

The aim of the workshop was to initiate a possible continuation of the project as a standardization in the form of a practice guide.

After a short welcome and introduction by Dr.-Ing. Carl Richter (Managing Director of the CBI), the workshop started immediately. The focus was on definitions, obstacles, need for regulation, potentials and further steps.

The form in which the practical guide will be worked on should be decided by Easter. We are already very much looking forward to it.
