15. October 2019
On Friday, 11.10.2019 the kick-off meeting of the consortium project Modulbau took place in Aachen. The consortium Modulbau consists of the partners ALGECO, AMTRA, BFT Cognos, CONTAINERWERK, ELA and PROCONTAIN as well as the Ministry for Regional Identity, Communities and Local Government, Building and Gender Equality of the land of North Rhine-Westphalia (MHKBG NRW) and the CBI. The aim of this consortium is to develop an application guide for room cells in lightweight metal construction.

Especially in times of constantly increasing demand for living space, the importance of efficient construction methods continues to grow. Modular construction is becoming increasingly important in Germany. As a result, more and more questions arise regarding the necessary structural proofs of modular construction. The proof of fire protection is always cited as an example from concrete projects. The application guide to be developed is intended to provide an overview of the framework conditions for the verification of building permits and to support manufacturers and distributors as well as planners and building authorities in equal measure.

The planned application guide will initially consider three different types of modular structures:

  • Type 1: Sea freight containers
  • Type 2: Container (steel frame free on the outside)
  • Type 3: Room modules (clad from the outside)
