Consortium Meeting Practice Guide to Modular Bridge Construction

Yesterday, a digital meeting took place within the framework of the consortium project for the development of the “Planning Aid for Modular Bridge Construction”. We were pleased to welcome representatives from Hochtief, Echterhoff, Filigran, Nesseler, Heitkamp, Hentschke Bau as well as Federal Highway Research Institute, Autobahn GmbH, Deutschen Bahn AG, Landesbetriebs Straßenbau NRW, H + P Ingenieure GmbH and the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. From the scientific side, the meeting was represented by the Institute of Steel Construction of RWTH University, the Institute of Structural Concrete of RWTH University and the Institute of Highway Engineering of RWTH University.

The main focus was on the presentation and discussion of the planning aid on possible supplementary proposals of the RE-ING with regard to the design of modular bridges. The preliminary work consisted, among other things, of a review of existing BMDV regulations for road bridges. Further sets of rules will be considered in the next meeting.
