BCA x CBI Workshop – BIM in Infrastructure Out of Town: Construction and Operation

On Tuesday, April 26, a hybrid workshop on the topic of BIM in the infrastructure sector outside of towns took place in cooperation with the BIM Center Aachen (BCA). Together with numerous representatives from industry and research, BIM was highlighted and discussed, especially with regard to construction and operation in the field of infrastructure.

Representatives of the companies Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, DEGES, Eiffage Infra-Bau, Eurovia, Heitkamp, Hilti, Hochtief, ISAC GmbH, Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau participated. AFrom a scientific point of view, the workshop was accompanied by the Geodetic Institute (GIA), Institute for Construction Management, Digital Construction and Robotics in Construction (ICoM), Institute for Highway Engineering (ISAC) of RWTH Aachen University as well as the Centers BCA and CBI on the RWTH Aachen Campus.

After the welcome and introduction by Prof. Blankenbach, impulse presentations on current topics followed, as well as another expert presentation on model-based billing. After the lunch break, the second part of the workshop began, where three World Café stations were used to discuss the topics of model-based billing, sustainable digitisation of infrastructure and digital methods for operations and data models, followed by a presentation of the results by a moderator.
