The CBI is proud to have been a co-organiser of the successful “Baukongress – Die Zukunft des Bauens” congress as part of the RWTH Aachen Campus construction cluster. This congress offered a unique platform to present and discuss the latest developments from science and industry for a sustainable construction industry. The focus was on the practical and compact combination of the most important future topics in the construction and property industry. There were very exciting insights into the topics of sustainability, automation and digitalisation, which were examined in detail from various angles.

We would particularly like to emphasise our participation in the specialist session “Resource-efficient element-based building systems in structural engineering”. This session was led by the Institute of Structural Concrete  and offered in-depth insights into innovative approaches and technologies that are already making sustainable and resource-efficient buildings possible today. In addition to the keynote speech (Univ.-Prof. Dr Martin Claßen, Institute Director, Chair and Institute of Strucutral Concrete at RWTH Aachen University), there were expert presentations from the individual disciplines of structural design (Roland Bechmann, Board Member and Partner, Werner Sobek AG), architecture (Jürgen Bartenschlag, Partner, Sauerbruch Hutton Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH) and construction (Dr Jan Wenker, Group Director Sustainability & Innovation, Brüninghoff GmbH & Co. KG). We would like to thank all participants in the specialist session for their excellent and constructive cooperation in the joint preparation of the four presentations.

Another highlight before the official start of the Construction Congress was the offsite “Science and research for a sustainable future of solid construction”, which we organised together with the Institute of Structural Concrete. This event impressively demonstrated how pioneering solutions for a sustainable future of solid construction can be developed through targeted research and cooperation with the construction industry.

We would like to thank the approximately 300 participants and over 50 speakers for their valuable and interesting contributions and look forward to future joint projects and events. Together we are shaping the future of construction! And what you should definitely remember: the next Baukongress will take place in Aachen again in May/June 2026.
