15. November 2021
On 11.11. and 12.11.21 the CBI invited all members to the 6th member meeting in the event location DAS LIEBIG in Aachen. The focus of the event was on the presentation of (interim) results of ongoing consortium projects as well as the initiation of new projects. The personal and interdisciplinary exchange between the members and the CBI was enabled and intensively perceived under arrangements of a 3G+G regulation.
At the beginning, all members and participants were welcomed by Prof. Josef Hegger and Managing Director Dr.-Ing. Carl Richter and introduced to current topics of the CBI. This included the presentation of successfully completed as well as ongoing projects in the field of road, building and bridge construction:
- PU asphalt and continuous reinforced concrete pavement
- Power generation infrastructure
- Detection of microplastic emissions from road markings
- Modular bridge construction
- Practical guide to prefabricated building units
- Sustainability in prefabricated building units
- Optimization of sandwich facades with concrete slabs
- Joining techniques of reinforced precast concrete elements
The project presentation was followed by a presentation of the current status at the Reallabor Modulo.
Interrupted by a lunch break, the participants met in different meeting rooms within the framework of their consortium projects. There, the corresponding results of the consortium studies were presented and discussed.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr.-Ing. Ralf Podleschny of the IFBS – International Federation for Lightweight Metal Construction from Krefeld. His presentation provided interesting insights into the activities of the IFBS.
After the introductions within the project consortia, we started with our “World Café”. Here, our participants were allowed to take the opportunity to take part in various topic discussion rounds.
On the second day of our members’ meeting, the three CBI members ALHO, nesseler and SWARCO were given the opportunity to introduce themselves as well as to address current challenges in the construction industry. For these presentations we would like to thank especially Dr. Nicole Steinmetz (ALHO), Dr. Martin Hiester (nesseler) and Mr. Kevin Wenzel (Swarco).
For the initiation of new projects, the participants were again able to sit down in different sessions and discuss the following topics together as part of a topic discussion:
- the innovative planning process in modular construction with concrete, taking into account the most flexible use possible
- Modular construction with concrete: How much building site can go into the factory?
- Sustainability assessment infrastructure
- Clinker-reduced binders / Sustainable / digital construction with concrete
- BIM Center
- PIM2BIM: Information supply chains between planning and procurement
- Benefit or profitability analysis & Integrated Project Delivery: Realization of productivity advantages in the serial construction of buildings using the example of Campus West
- DBB with carbon fiber
- Bridge refurbishment
- Wood module construction
Presenters were available in each session to answer questions and performance vouchers could be placed on each topic.
We are pleased that the 6th members’ meeting could take place in this form and would like to take this opportunity to thank the location DAS LIEBIG for providing the premises and the first-class service! Furthermore, we thank all speakers for their support and all participants (Algeco, ALHO, BASF, BFT Cognos, Containerwerk Eins, ELA Container, Eurovia, Filigran, Hochtief, Leviat, nesseler, Procontain, Röhm, Solidian, Swarco and Zeppelin Rental) who contributed so constructively during these two days!
The next member meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 16-17, 2022.
