On 18.05, the CBI invited all members to the 5th member meeting on the digital platform set up especially for the event. The focus of the event was on the exchange between the members and the CBI as well as the initiation of new consortium projects.
At the beginning, all members and participants were welcomed by initiator Prof. Hegger and managing director Dr.-Ing. Carl Richter and introduced to current topics and the current status in the CBI. This included the presentation of successfully completed as well as ongoing projects in the field of road, building and bridge construction:
- Continuously reinforced concrete pavement in combination with PU asphalt.
- Infrastructure requirements for automated driving
- Modular bridge construction
- Practical guide to room cell construction
- Sustainability room cell construction
- Optimization of sandwich facades with concrete slabs
- Connection techniques of reinforced precast concrete elements
The project presentation was followed by networking, which was made possible via the digital platform. Here, all participants were able to exchange information bilaterally or related to the topics of road construction, building construction and bridge construction in video chat rooms. In a lecture by Mr. Aldenhoff from the Ministry of Construction NRW, current developments on the topic of “digital permit proceedings” were presented. Here, exciting insights into the platform for the digital building application procedure were shown. In addition, the three CBI members KLEUSBERG, BASF and BOLLE had the opportunity to introduce themselves and to discuss current challenges in the construction industry.
For the initiation of new projects, the participants had the opportunity to sit down in different sessions and discuss the following topics together:
- Modular bridge systems
- Possibilities of energy generation in the infrastructure sector
- CBI/DGNB: Green road construction workshop
- 3D reinforced concrete printing
- CBI/MC: Future of Smart Traffic Infrastructure
- CBI/BIM: Workshop BIM in infrastructure outside urban areas: construction and operation.
Moderators were available in each session to answer questions and service vouchers were available for members to express interest in the topics. Finally, members were able to express their feedback and suggestions for further successful collaboration in a large roundtable before all members were bid farewell.
We are pleased that the 5th member meeting could take place in this form and would like to take this opportunity to thank the WBA Tooling Academy for setting up the digital platform and providing the equipment and premises as well as all speakers and participants!
The next member meeting will probably take place at the beginning of November.
